« Get loud and birth proud »

C’est le thème de la International Week for Respecting Childbirth (IWRC) 2026. L’IWRC est portée par le European Network of Childbirth Associations (ENCA), un réseau européen d’organisations engagées pour une naissance respectueuse, fondée sur les données scientifiques et l’autodétermination.

ENCA définit une naissance normale comme un processus naturel où les contractions débutent spontanément et où la femme met au monde son bébé et le placenta par ses propres forces, au moment qui est juste pour elle et l’enfant. L’accent est mis sur les besoins de la personne qui accouche ainsi que sur le contact précoce et continu entre la mère et le bébé.

🎯 Objectifs de l’IWRC 2026

La semaine internationale pour le respect de la naissance invite les femmes, les familles et les professionnels à rendre la naissance visible et à parler ouvertement des expériences liées à la grossesse, à l’accouchement et au post-partum.

Au centre se trouvent la voix des femmes, un accompagnement respectueux et le droit à des décisions informées et autonomes. « Get loud » encourage à exprimer ses ressentis, ses besoins et son expérience. « Birth proud » rappelle que chaque naissance suit son propre chemin et que chaque femme peut être fière de sa force, de ses choix et de son expérience.

Grâce au partage et au dialogue, une culture de la naissance fondée sur la confiance, la dignité et le respect peut se développer.

L’IWRC a été initiée en 2004 par l’organisation française Alliance française pour l’accouchement respecté (AFAR). Elle est aujourd’hui soutenue internationalement par des organisations et des professionnels engagés pour une naissance respectée et les droits des personnes qui accouchent.

“Get loud and birth proud”

This is the theme of the International Week for Respecting Childbirth (IWRC) 2026. The IWRC is coordinated by the European Network of Childbirth Associations (ENCA), a European network of organisations committed to respectful, evidence-based, and self-determined childbirth.

ENCA defines a normal birth as a natural process in which labour begins spontaneously and the woman gives birth to her baby and placenta through her own strength, at the time that is right for her and the baby. The focus is on the needs of the birthing person and on early and uninterrupted contact between mother and baby.

🎯 Aims of IWRC 2026

The International Week for Respecting Childbirth invites women, families, and professionals to make childbirth visible and to openly share experiences related to pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

At its core are the voice of the birthing person, respectful care, and the right to informed and autonomous decision-making. “Get loud” encourages expressing feelings, needs, and experiences. “Birth proud” reminds us that every birth follows its own path and that every woman can be proud of her strength, her choices, and her individual birth experience.

Through dialogue and sharing, a culture of birth based on trust, dignity, and respect can grow.

The IWRC was initiated in 2004 by the French organisation Alliance française pour l’accouchement respecté (AFAR). Today it is supported internationally by organisations and professionals working for respectful maternity care and the rights of birthing people.
